Drivers fined following enforcement in Dunfermline High Street pedestrian zone
Dunfermline Officers have been carrying out targeted enforcement within the town's pedestrianised High Street following concerns raised by members of the public about motorists using the area as a shortcut.
The High Street is a pedestrian zone and is in place to provide a safe environment for those walking through the town centre. Vehicle access is restricted, with exemptions only for authorised permit holders, disabled access and vehicles carrying out loading or unloading at permitted times.
In response to reports from the community, officers carried out dedicated patrols over two consecutive weekends. During the operation, 10 drivers were detected contravening the restrictions and were each issued with a £50 Fixed Penalty Notice.
The enforcement activity forms part of the ongoing commitment to addressing concerns raised by local residents and businesses, improving road safety and ensuring the town centre remains safe for everyone.
Officers will continue to carry out patrols and take positive action where offences are identified. | ||
